Ian has extensive corporate finance advisory experience across M&A, private equity and debt instruments. Ian is also an experienced board director and chairman of private and public companies, as well as executive coach to CEOs and executive management teams.
Originally qualifying as a chartered accountant with Arthur Young McClelland Moores, Ian joined the British Linen Bank in 1982, spending time across corporate banking, leasing and corporate finance.
In 1985 Ian joined Touche Ross’ Corporate Finance Advisory department in London, and in 1991 joined Rutherford Manson Dowds (RMD), becoming partner in charge for the Glasgow office. When RMD was acquired by Deloitte in 1999, Ian subsequently held senior roles across Deloitte including Head of Corporate Finance Advisory for Scotland & Northern Ireland, Head of Global Advisory Worldwide and was appointed Senior Partner for Scotland & Northern Ireland. Ian was also appointed to the main UK board of Deloitte.
Ian has also been a board member of STV plc, iomart plc and Killinchy Aerospace Holdings Ltd.
Ian was a Member of the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland until April 2019 and is now a Member of the Constitutional Panel of the Institute.
